Mission

We believe that mission is God's project to restore all of creation. He wants to change lives, communities and nations. God uses the church as His primary way of accomplishing this change. As we both live and speak the good news of God's amazing love we reveal Jesus Christ to a broken and sinful world.

It takes both: good works and good news, working for justice and leading people into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ, who forgives sins and sets people free to truly live. While we do mission along this axis of good news and good works, there is another axis, the geographic axis of both local and global work.

The risen Lord Jesus sent his followers to Jerusalem and the ends of the earth. Good news and good works. Locally and Globally. The whole gospel to the whole world...that's the scope of our mission.

What kind of mission does Christ Church do?

The Urban Plunge
During the season of Lent (roughly 6 weeks prior to Easter), our entire congregation will attend Church Under the Bridge, visiting in 5 groups over the course of 5 Sundays. It's exactly what it sounds like: a church that meets under Interstate 35, composed mainly of street people. We'll serve and listen, learn about and pray for this city that God so loves.

Beautiful Day
This is when we fan out around the city to serve in various locations, doing what we can to ". . . do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with our God."

The Alpha Course
This is a practical introduction to the Christian faith for seekers and skeptics, new believers and anyone who wants a refresher on the fundamentals of faith.

Mission Trips
In addition to days of service we take mission trips to go cross-culturally with the gospel of God's heart for the poor and good news of salvation.
